Fewer distressed houses hitting market helped Columbus sales gain

Housing prices in Central Ohio maintained a steady rise in 2012 helped by a shallower pool of homes thrown onto the market because of mortgage troubles, says an analysis by the Columbus Board of Realtors.The report on distressed properties in the Columbus area found the inventory of so-called lender-mediated houses dropped nearly 38 percent in the fourth quarter from the final three months of 2011.
