The Albuquerque Police Department White Collar Unit would like to warn local residents and businesses about a recently discovered new scam that has been seen in Albuquerque and Alamogordo, NM. The currently identified victims are businesses, but detectives say that the scam could very likely affect individuals as well. According to reports, the suspects will call the victims and alert them that their most recent PNM bill did not go through. They will then request that the vicitm pay their bill immediately over the phone via credit card. Once the suspects have obtained credit card information, they will make fraudulent purchases with the credit card information. Please remember to always be sure of who you are speaking with on the phone any time you share any personal identifying or financial information. If you are uncertain, hang up and contact the company directly to make sure you are speaking with a representative.** Albuquerque Police Department **
