Learning about small business from a UNM student
So my 21 year old son who is a business student at UNM asks me tonight (for a class), dad what three qualities make up a great sales person? I had warned him earlier because of my unsuccessful run with my business and the recession that maybe I wasn’t the best guy to ask. He wanted to ask me anyway. I thought about it and said very quickly honesty and product knowledge… two down. The third took a minute. I told him I did not know how to summarize this in two words: caring enough about the other person to want to learn about them. Maybe it’s genuine concern. I then said that plenty of people in this recession will be able to sell ice to an Eskimo out of sheer determination, but this type of sale will not stand the test of time. Can you relate to this as a business person?

What sells a typical Albuquerque home these days?
Real Estate buyers and sellers in Albuquerque can benefit equally from knowing a few key facts about what makes a home sell in today\'s emerging market. That\'s right... I said emerging - not depressed. Buyers with cash or the ability to borrow are out in greater numbers than we have seen in years. They know that the market has bottomed in most key areas, and with interest rates still low, now is the time.
So what are buyers looking for? Location and price are still the two big factors. Buyers feel like they flat out deserve a good deal for being willing to step out and take a risk when home prices have been in a freefall for the past several years. Sellers don\'t have to like that mentality but there are things they can do to minimize the \"good deal\" syndrome. Sellers should visit ALL their competition and be mindful of price, condition and the marketing being used. The appraisal will set the cap for the house price anyway, so sellers should not make the list price decision based on what they NEED to get, but rather what the competition is doing. Have your agent layer and add a new piece of marketing daily during the first month as traffic heats up. Homes that don\'t sell in the first month need a serious discussion about price, condition or marketing to stay competitive with new listings coming out. Don\'t skimp on fixing things that will be perceived as a problem. Follow professional staging standards and high definition photos and virtual.

Acupuncture is a great treatment for Children
Children of all ages are treated and respond well to acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments. In addition, young children that are apprehensive of the use of acupuncture needles may be treated without needles using Asian bodywork and/or electrical probes. In addition, herbal formulas are usually prescribed to enhance the acupuncture treatments and to provide further care between treatments as well.

What makes Old Town such a great place to live in Albuquerque?
What makes Old Town, Albuquerque such a great place to live is the lifestyle. People commonly mistake Old Town as a place just for tourists. But Old Town has some of the oldest homes, Churches and Pueblo style architecture in Albuquerque, NM. It is close to freeways, downtown, shopping, nightlife... yet totally rooted in a southwestern culture of its own.
There are gated communities on the ourskirts of Old Town including the Albuquerque Country Club designed for luxury living. But, luxury living is not really what Old Town is about. You will find 400 year old homes, many that have been refurbished to continue to blend into the very rich cultural environment. As a matter of fact, the entire Old Town area has seen major upgrades over the past several years that have also been designed to preserve the historic beauty that is timeless to Old Town.

What small business owners really need are affordable solutions
All business owners have done enough research to know what they need to move their business into start up position or to the next level: a business presence on the internet that does not eat up all their time or resources. In order to preserve working capital most small business owners where many hats. Sometimes, so many hats that they can’t see the forest thru the trees. An example is a restaurant owner/chef who does all the taxes, payroll, hiring/firing, advertising and marketing. This leads to quick burn out and lost revenue, as the final product often is missing key ingredients. So, allocate some capital to bring in other trusted professionals to get your business off the ground while you focus on what you love and are good at!
