Learning about small business from a UNM student

So my 21 year old son who is a business student at UNM asks me tonight (for a class), dad what three qualities make up a great sales person? I had warned him earlier because of my unsuccessful run with my business and the recession that maybe I wasn’t the best guy to ask. He wanted to ask me anyway. I thought about it and said very quickly honesty and product knowledge… two down. The third took a minute. I told him I did not know how to summarize this in two words: caring enough about the other person to want to learn about them. Maybe it’s genuine concern. I then said that plenty of people in this recession will be able to sell ice to an Eskimo out of sheer determination, but this type of sale will not stand the test of time. Can you relate to this as a business person?
